“Heading Home” is an exploration of the mind-body connection and its role in healing from sickness. The work draws influence from the migration of the Sandhill Cranes through the Platte River Valley in Nebraska. The birds are a vision of freedom and persistence. Painting and tapestry created through slow and deliberate work with the hands, imbues the installation with intimacy and memory. The synthesis of media brings traditional oil painting off the wall and into the viewers space. Each step taken within the work brings new perspective. Every moving shadow and light breeze allows the viewer to step into the art and feel neither here nor there as they explore a rich world of emotion.
